Who is Start-Saigon?
Emma, a nomadic digital photographer from Berlin, started Start-Saigon in January 2020 because she wanted to combine her two biggest passions: photography and traveling. As a digital nomad, she is constantly on the move. In just a few years, she has been to more than 20 countries and her goal is to visit every single continent. When she’s not working remotely for a new startup, she goes visiting friends or on photography tours.
Emma likes to see things through the eyes of an outsider and has always had a big interest in photography. She was raised in a creative environment open to different kinds of arts and she has been exposed to various visual media from an early age. When she was in high school, she also participated in group projects learning about photography and developed her knowledge further by attending a class in photography after finishing high school. Later she became a big fan of Hipstamatic, suddenly her camera was always in her hand.
What is a digital nomad?
Have you ever heard of digital nomads? In the last few years, digital nomads have become more and more popular. It’s not what you think at first sight – it doesn’t mean sitting in front of a computer at all times. In fact, it’s the opposite: these people are always on the move. You might see them hiking in Vietnam one year and teaching surfing in Sri Lanka the next year. They work in a variety of places, which is called location independence.
The advantage of digital nomading is that you don’t need to get a new apartment every time you change the country. However, it can be challenging to find new jobs since you need a new CV every time you travel to a different country.
And just like other people who start their own businesses, Emma loves traveling and working from a different place every few months. She has been traveling alone for years.
How can we help you?
I am always looking for cool hotels, fun things to do, or nice places to eat and I would love to share this with my audience on Start-Saigon. I can also review products and services that are of relevance to digital nomads.
I am also happy to write product or service reviews and contribute to events.
